Dr. Smail has been private practice of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for over 30 years. He graduated from University of Rochester with a B.S. in Molecular Genetics. He is a graduate of Georgetown Dental School; his residency was at Georgetown University Medical Center. He is a Board-Certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon. As a Forensic Consultant for New York State, he lends his expertise to criminal investigations and has testified as an expert in several high-profile cases. His charity, Smiles Bring Hope, has taken him on several medical/dental Mission Trips in the last 30 years to 6 different countries. He is on faculty with CDOCS/SPEAR Education. He teaches live and online courses both nationally and internationally. Currently Dr. Smail holds membership with AAOMS, International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and NYSSOMS. He is a Fellow of Pierre Fauchaud Academy, American College of Dentists, and International College of Dentists.
Dr. Smail is passionate about his patients combining precision digital dentistry with compassionate care. He is married to Dr. Sabita Smail, a general dentist. Together they have two grown sons: Tom and Charlie, a daughter-in-law, Ann, and a poodle, named Ellie. Dr. Smail enjoys teaching, travelling and fly fishing.
